about

Free improvisation from a core of Sam Eastmond, Celeste Cantor-Stephens and Andy Watts on trumpet, joined by a special guest for each record TORU is an ongoing monthly series of albums created spontaneously through the alchemy of group improvisation.

An outrageous mixture of energy, catharsis, anger and love TORU is freewheeling, free improvisation from a diverse and eclectic combination of musicians created in a single moment in time and space.

Volume 14 features Josephine Davies, on Tenor Saxophone, Josephine whose groups include Satori, Orenda and her own big band, is one of the most exciting and inspiring original voices on the British scene. She brought some deep vibes and twisted humour to this session and turned her horn inside out.
Josephine also features on the Spike Orchestra's Binah album in John Zorn's Masada Book Three.
